Why I Created The Boobie Band

I've been "well endowed" since I was 13, and for years, I never thought much about the sweat or moisture that built up under my breasts. Like many women with a C-D-DD cup, I just dealt with it.

But in my 40s, it started becoming a real issue. I'd go for a run, shower afterward, and still find myself sweating underneath my breasts. It was uncomfortable, irritating and, honestly, gross.

On days when I’d go for a walk and then have a full day of errands, I’d end up stuck in a sweaty sports bra, not only yucky but also unhygienic.

Or, when I’d watch my boys play baseball, the sweat would not only pool under my breasts and soak my bra band but drip down my back and into my underwear. And of course, right after that, my family would want to go out to eat.

At home, when I didn’t want to wear a bra moisture would still build up. Just cleaning the house builds up moisture. Add in the Texas heat, and it was a recipe for discomfort. It felt like a never-ending cycle of grossness.

I realized that I couldn’t avoid moisture under my breasts, since they are always touching my torso. I searched online for a solution but couldn’t find anything that worked for me. So, I decided to create a solution.

I didn’t know how to sew, but my mom did. In 2018, we started to sketch out designs for what this product could look like. Life got busy, and the idea was put on the back burner. Then in April 2022, my mom passed away.

It wasn’t until spring 2024 that a wonderful group of inspiring women entrepreneurs encouraged me to pick up where I left off. That If I had this problem, surely other women did, too. They urged me to pursue the dream I had tucked away, and that gave me the courage to try again.

The only problem? I still didn’t know how to sew, so I found a talented, kind-hearted woman who could. She helped create the first prototype and taught me how to sew. Together, we brought the Boobie Band to life.
